Objective To use my knowledge and experience to provide strategic direction for the sales/catering/marketing (as appropriate) team to insure the Hotel’s achievement of short and long term goals. Provide assessment, guidance and encouragement as needed to ensure the ongoing motivation of the team. To be accountable for Sales, Catering and Marketing budget to assure appropriate spend; to work tactically with the Director of Revenue Management and other Departmental Directors to insure a strategically symbiotic relation between all disciplines. |
Experience Waikiki 1969 – October 1983 1969-1973 Reservations Clerk, Central Reservations Office, Reef Hotels Phone/correspondence reservations, group reservations, manual individual reservation charting, group block charting, manual occupancy forecasting 1973-1981 Aloha Surf Hotel – Director of Reservations & Sales, – Full charge of staff of 2 reservationists; negotiating, contracting, actualizing ad hoc and contract/charter blocks, representing hotel at industry functions, site tours of travel industry partnersand wholesalers. 1981-1983 – Reservations Manager/On-Site Sales, Island Colony Hotel (Hotel Corp of the Pacific) – Full charge of staff of 3 reservationists, negotiating, contracting, actualizing ad-hoc groups and actualizing contract/charter blocks by HCP Sales office, representing hotel at industry functions, site tours of 44-story property with travel industry partners/wholesalers Sacramento 1983 – Present Catering Sales, Executive Secretary to the General Manager, Front Office Manager, Senior Sales Manager, Radisson Hotel Sacramento 1983 – 2002 – Catering sales for 300 room, 50K square foot meeting space resort hotel; with new ownership and management served as Executive Secretary to new General Manager; front office/reservations manager, senior sales manager California State Employees Association (5 years)- 2002 – 2007 – Meeting/Event Planner, largest association in the State of California – responsible for booking/detailing an average of 150 meetings a year from 10 – 1200 people Director of Sales, Radisson Hotel Sacramento 2007-2009 – responsible for sales function including hiring, training, nurturing staff of six sales managers and admins. Participate as part of revenue management team, Media relations, budgeting, representing company at industry functions. Maintaining inter-departmental relations and communications, as well as reporting to General Manager and Management company, manager on duty as required. Responsible for City-wide, contract, entertainment travel and association groups over 100 rooms Director of Sales, Riverboat Delta King – 2009-2010 – oversee sales and catering effort of a 44-room, 6k square feet of meeting space, unique venue. All market segments 3rd Party Intermediary, Associate 2010 – 2012 – site research and selection, contract negotiation and event detailing for select Association and SMERF clients General Manager, Independent Wedding Venue, Villa Privata 2012 – 2015 – full spectrum operations of unique seasonal special event venue – sales, detailing, set-up, event management, tear down, coordinating with outside vendors (catering, planners, DJ’s, florists) while maintaining a 5-star Yelp rating during first two years of events Sales Manager, Holiday Inn Sacramento Downtown Arena – 2015 – 2018 – responsible for Government, SMERF, Tour & Travel and Entertainment Travel of a 330 room hotel with 15k square ft of meeting space, represent property at industry functions Sales Manager, Holiday Inn San Jose – Silicon Valley 2019-2021 – responsible for Government, Association, Tour & Travel and Entertainment Travel markets, combination remote and on-property position. Represent property at industry events Director of Sales, Crowne Plaza Sacramento Northeast/Wyndham Sacramento 2021-Present – full charge of sales function for 230 room, 15k square foot suburban conference hotel as it emerges from the pandemic with one part-time assistant. Covering all market segments in group room and catering sales. TASK FORCE EXPERIENCE December 1, 2010 – February 1, 2011 Director of Sales/Catering/Convention Services Doubletree by Hilton Modesto, Westmont Hospitality – Temporary position during permanent candidate search. Stepped into sales/catering/convention services department of nine that had been without a director for a year. Completed unfinished budget, established guidance for team and, with input of team members, developed focus, re-established goals. Re-established positive inter-departmental communication and engagement with revenue manage team July 1, 2018 – August 31, 2018 – Director of Catering, Crowne Plaza Sacramento Northeast – Temporary position during medical leave. Assumed all catering oversite, including selling, detailing, communication with Director of Sales and sales manager, and inter-departmental communications related to all events happening at hotel. September 1, 2019 – January 31, 2020 – Sales Manager – Holiday Inn San Jose – Silicon Valley (then hired permanently/remote) – Responsible for Government, Association, SMERF, tour & travel and entertainment travel 100 rooms and under. Represented property at industry events |
